Professional Experience

Kathy is a California Licensed Professional Private Fiduciary, Certified Estate Planner™ and recovering attorney. Her professional experience is diverse and includes estate planning, trust administration and management, legal practice and tenacious task completion. Kathy holds degrees from Northeastern University School of Law and Santa Clara University. Kathy's broad legal practice has focused on multiple practice areas including employment discrimination, equal protection, immigration, business development, family law (dissolution, domestic violence advocacy and support), criminal justice, landlord/tenant law, worker's compensation and construction defect. Her previous practice areas included litigation, appellate practice and transactional business in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Palo Alto, Boston and Washington D.C.

Kathy has also served as the former owner and operator of Just a Party Girl Productions LLC, a hospitality and event planning service. She has first hand familiarity with the common plights of small business owners and entrepreneurs. She has first hand knowledge of the complex challenges facing not-for-profit development through previous staff positions and current volunteer board of director roles.

Compassionate, Comprehensive, Client Centered Service
Kathy has a passion for assisting clients with the often confusing and thorny issues related to personal estate planning and trust administration. She has served as executor/personal representative/advisor in three states. Kathy recognizes that every individual needs an estate plan strategy far beyond the tailored legal documents. Passage Planning is holistic and edges into areas of financial advice, life insurance vehicles, charitable giving, social engagement, spiritual care, taxation, business structuring, medical choices and limitations, real estate/transition planning, estate clean outs and much more.

Personal Experience
Kathy has walked in the shoes of many mid-life clients as well. These 'sandwich generation' individuals have concerns for their young children and elders, both under their care. Kathy knows that everyone leaves a legacy which can take a broad shape.

While directing future plans, she explores real concerns that need answers today. Passage Planning develops strategies with every client on some of the most important questions facing us all.
  • "How do I age well?"
  • "How can I plan for my legacy?" (Both financial and figurative)
  • "What types of options are available to me today to plan for tomorrow with awareness of possible future health or mental concerns?"
  • "What can I do to maximize my ability to maintain my lifestyle choices and meet my personal goals?"

Kathy is a Bay Area native and makes her home in Palo Alto, with her husband and three daughters, one big dog and guinea pigs. She occasionally speaks on parenting issues through local parent networks and serves as a fundraising support to local boards.

A Certified Estate Planner™ has:

  • Completed a rigorous eight (8) module course of instruction in the field of estate planning,
